Our Little Groovers dance classes at The Expose Dance Centre consist of a welcome to all students, warm up, learning basic movements in classical ballet and jazz dance whilst using props such as scarves, feathers, wands, hula hoops, pom poms etc. Our dance students also learn how to warm up their voices correctly and learn basic songs. Instruments are sometimes added to dance classes to extend the childs knowledge of music and develop a strong sense of musicality which is required for dance and performance. Our dance classes at Expose, in particular integrate kinesthetic learning with understanding. Preschool children do not conceptualize abstract processes (Piaget). They primarily learn through physical and sensory experiences. When children are provided with creative movement problems that involve the selection of movement choices, they learn to think in the concrete reality of movement. Thus, learning the art of dance helps young children develop knowledge, skill, and understanding about the world.
